In 2020 the Hawkes Bay Regional Aquatic Centre gained funding from the Government through their shovel ready projects fund. This will provide the sports park with an Olympic size swimming pool (50m) and a learn to swim pool (25m) available for both members of the general public and events. This will subsequently bring in job opportunities and income for the region in general with events being hosted here and a facility for both local and national athletes to train in a facility as world class as this. Sharp Consulting has provided their services of cost management to the contractors and clients throughout the course of the project with the projected completion date due for the second quarter of 2022.
